Marx Memorial Library: AR Archive Posters

Marx Memorial Library: AR Archive Posters

BRINGING A MUSEUM ARCHIVE TO LIFE THROUGH AUGMENTED REALITY.

Brief:

An MA group project for the Marx Memorial Library, a London social history archive that wanted to reach wider, non-specialist audiences. As team Manifesto Remakers, we proposed a new identity and engagement system.

Idea: Turn the archive's posters into living stories. Scan a poster and it comes alive with motion, sound and narration telling the history behind it, making hidden histories accessible to everyone.

Process: I led the AR and motion for three posters: Chile Resists, Victory to the Grunwick Strikers and Libros y periódicos al frente. I researched and scripted each one, split the layers in Photoshop, animated in After Effects, added AI voiceover and sound, and built image-triggered AR in Adobe Aero.

Outcome: Tested on iOS and Android and refined through user testing. Our team placed 3rd in the cohort and won Best Presentation, judged with the Marx Memorial Library. Project mark: 81.5%.

My Role: AR experience, motion, sound and scripts · Tools: After Effects, Photoshop, Adobe Aero, Figma, minimax.io (AI voice) · Year: 2025 · Team: Richa Elangovan (branding, logo, typography), Mayukh Rastogi (website, lo-fi and hi-fi), Hoi Yee Wu (print and scratch cards) · Type: MA group project, UCA
